Untitled
Family Album...
Just as the presence of relatives and friends who are now deceased in the photographs wipes away some of the anxiety and regret that we feel after their deaths, the photographs of neighborhoods that have now been demolished and fields that have become shadowy wastelands provide us with a small connection to the past.
These people enjoy great freedom.
They are not tied to the land at all, because they do not cultivate it.
They are an unsettled people, a wandering people.
And if one sheikh wants to deprive them of their freedom,
they will first seek it from another sheikh,
or they will retreat to the forest to live with their families.
In these peoples,
human freedom is so great that it inevitably entails civic freedom.
